Pinned and Proper Makes Brides Beautiful and Vow-Ready

By Pamela Sosnowski

Lauren DeCosimo believes that every bride should look fabulous on her wedding day. A childhood passion for hair and makeup led her to launch her bridal styling company, Pinned and Proper, in 2002. She offers exclusive hair and makeup styling services that are especially designed to transform brides and their wedding parties for that very special day.

DeCosimo and her staff arrive on location to provide hair extensions, blowouts, up-dos, styling, and makeup application. And, as she explains, there are more than a few advantages to using Pinned and Proper for tying the knot, versus going to a full-service hair salon.

"Our artists concentrate on only your wedding that day" she said. "We spend the day just with you. Each artist has over 10 years of experience and specializes in hair and makeup for brides." She also points out that there's a big difference between a hairstylist and a bridal hairstylist. "We have customized all of our services to provide them in a different way than most salons and blowout bars, which is why we can guarantee their longevity."

DeCosimo, who's been dubbed a "hair goddess" by one of her clients, has focused on bridal hairstyling since beginning her career in 2001. She is an award-winning, seasoned hairstylist whose experience includes working backstage at NYC runway shows, and styling the hair of celebrities and models for magazine shoots.

Since she believe in giving brides the same level of attention and service as her famous-name clients, each new client relationship begins with a consultation and trial. This session typically lasts a few hours, and while it is not required, DeCosimo highly recommends it so she can get accustomed to a bride's hair type and texture and skin tone.

Clients should expect to answer several questions about their skin and hair care routine during the trial. According to DeCosimo, there are three components to having the perfect trial: clear expectations, communication, and honesty.

"We want there to be open communication with our brides and our artists," she said. "We like to trial both, hair and makeup, together from start to finish. All hair and skin types are different and have different needs. Not all products work best on every skin type. Leave it to us to share with you something new and use the products we like best while educating you on new techniques. You can see the end result and make adjustments from there if necessary. Your honest feedback will help with our communication as well as work our way to the perfect look!"

DeCosimo assures that all of her artists are well trained not just in hair and makeup techniques, but that they bring professionalism and great communication skills to every job so that every bride feels her best. She also uses the highest quality and newest products from Redken, BioPro, Bed Head and more.

"We aim to exceed your expectations," she said. "This may be your first wedding, but I've personally helped over 500 brides and I want you to be confident that no matter what may arise we will handle it as if it were our own."
