MGM Creative Studios Offers One-Stop-Shopping for Photography and Design Needs

By Pamela Sosnowski

Like most photography studios, MGM Creative Studios takes photos of a variety of subjects and life events, from engagements to newborn shoots. But the Bronx-based business stands out from the competition in that it can also perform an array of graphic design services. As its founder and CEO Matt Mercado explains, this comes in handy when customers need supplemental print or promotional material that compliments their special event.

"[Suppose] a couple would like to take first time maternity pictures and they also have the idea of sending out announcements to their families," he said. "Here at MGM they would take the maternity photos and then those photos would be sent to the graphic design branch to make a great maternity announcement to be shipped out."

The company consists of several branches including graphic design, web design, and printing services to provide one-stop shopping for its clients' creative needs. This also means the customer base is not restricted to people that have photography needs, but includes businesses that need a logo, banner, print advertising, and other marketing material created. Offering such services under one roof brings several benefits according to Mercado.

"The client is not bouncing back from place to place," Mercado said. "Also, it is easier on pricing when you're dealing with one person versus ten. The best part of MGM is the fact that everything is linked together."

,p.The company's graphic designers can also create brochures, info graphics, business cards, posters, illustrations, and more. The web design branch specializes in site designs that are flexible, easy to navigate, and mobile-friendly.

The photography portion of the business stands strongly on its own, as MGM specializes in portraits, headshots, weddings, engagements, real estate photography, and more. Mercado takes the time to get to know each client and their personality to bring out their best when taking photos, and he also pays attention to the smallest details when setting up his equipment.

Packages have flexible pricing to accommodate the client's budget and Mercado can usually grant special requests; he even willingly took engagement photos of a couple on the Brooklyn Bridge during a very windy and cold mid-January day. Photos receive professional retouching in Photoshop so that they'll be preserved in perfection and can be enjoyed for decades to come.

This high level of customer service is not lost on Mercado's clients, who have routinely given MGM five star ratings online.

"I think one of the major pieces of business that companies usually forget is customers," he said. "They forget the compassion and dedication that's needed to make sure the customer is 'taken care of'. One thing I pride myself on is great customer service. One of the actions that is needed when dealing with people is 'listening'. I do my best to listen to the customer and translate their vision to reality."
