Got Stumps? Makes Any Tree Stump Manageable

By Marina Jokic

The experts at Got Stumps? in Canterbury, Connecticut specialize in cutting and grinding stumps, roots, bushes, and other growths that can't be easily accessed by machines. Many houses in the Northeast are surrounded by lush deciduous vegetation, but sometimes this natural beauty can be a nuisance for homeowners. Do-it-yourself solutions have left many residents' properties in disrepair or worse yet, have jeopardized human safety while racking up costly repairs.

Owner of Got Stumps?, and long-time Canterbury resident, Adam Perry has been handling problematic cases of stump cutting and grinding since he was a teenager. Working on stump grinding with his father from the age of 16, Perry also earned an electrician's license and keeps it current in case he is called for foul weather work. His company provides full service cleanups, soiling, and seeding to recover affected areas.

"Canterbury is a do-it-yourself [kind of] town, but stump removal is [certainly] not something you want to [attempt] yourself," Perry said. "Stump grinding is well known to be the safest, cleanest, and most efficient way to remove tree stumps, bushes, and surface roots."

Perry recommends cutting stumps to below grade, down to 24" whenever possible. The process can be incredibly painstaking and tricky at times, but Got Stumps? has mastered every step of it. Perry's team can handle any size tree, bush, or root system. Grinding in awkward or spatially restricted areas is the most challenging part of the process, but preparation, skill, and the right tools make all the difference.

In the majority of cases, digging up an entire stump is more trouble than it's worth, usually forcing customers to wreck their lawns. Alternatively, using the grinding method leaves the surrounding grass in a nearly pristine condition, which means less hassle and a fraction of the cost of uprooting.

"With stump grinder rentals starting around $300 per day plus fuel, teeth, [and] travel, Got Stumps? [services truly come out to] less than the cost of [doing the work yourself]," Perry said. "Grinding stumps for as little as $45 per visit [in a lot of cases is a real bargain]."

Currently settled into a small property in Canterbury with five bays of shop space, Perry runs two machines with trailers and top-of-the-line equipment full time to satisfy demand. Got Stumps? is ready to tackle any tree stump still standing in Connecticut so don't postpone calling them.
