Can you briefly explain what faux and decorative paint finishes are?

Using paint to create complex effects such as an aged antique look or the illusion of texture on a wall.

What are the areas/rooms that people most often use them in?

All rooms are candidates for our finishes. Ceilings and floors are particularly popular. We also do a lot of furniture.

What finishes would work well for a living room that you want to be stylish but not too formal?

A pebble finish in soft gray or a low contrast metallic color wash.

Can you give some examples of the finishes and colors that homeowners have been the most happy with?

Light to mid-tone warmish gray are the rage in our area; strong, contrasty colors are infrequent.

What tips do you have for people on whether to hire a painter versus DIY?

If you want work of our skill level you needs us. Also stylish decorative finishing is mostly about the color.
