BreakThru: Encouraging Both Youth and Adults Through The Love of Fitness

If you're looking for an encouraging environment that will help you meet your fitness goals, look no further than BreakThru in Stamford, Connecticut.

BreakThru offers personal training for both adults and children in a comforting and nurturing atmosphere. Specialty fitness classes, such as Krav Maga, Boxing, Muay Thai, Fencing, Jazzercise, Zumba, and more, are also available.

Unlike other large-scale gyms, BreakThru prides themselves on not being a corporate. They're a small, family-run fitness center that focuses on the individual, not the mass.

"Everyone, no matter what age or ability, fits in," Kimberly Colletto, Co-owner of BreakThru, said. "I love everything about my job especially helping people reach their fitness goals."

While the facility offers a range of services and classes, it has a heavy focus on Krav Maga. Krav Maga is a physical fitness and self-protection technique that has been sweeping the nation in recent years. It is the official self-defense and fighting system of the Israeli Defense Forces, and is required training for scores of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

"It is one of the most efficient self-defense system for real-life situations, emphasizing practical defenses against real attacks," Tom Bacha, Krav Maga Worldwide Instructor and Co-owner of BreakThru, said. "Krav Maga is based on instinctual fight or flight moves and on natural reflexes, thus making it easy to learn. There are no rules in Krav Maga, use everything you've got!"

The practice places an emphasis on simple movements, which allows people of all ages and fitness levels to learn real self-defense without a complicated rule book. The form is characterized by a logical and coherent approach to self-defense and enables one to achieve a moderately high level of aptitude within a brief period of training.

"This system is perfect for children," Bacha said. "It's easy to learn and fun at the same time."

Children are able to learn through drills that incorporate defenses. This helps them to make sense of how they move their bodies.

"More importantly, the drills emphasize and instill the core belief to never...ever quit, whether it's a life-threatening situation or any challenge that life puts in front of them," Bacha stated. "Priceless core belief programing that happens naturally."
